OUR STORY

Nobody handed Raymond Richard a roadmap when he came home.
No job waiting. No stable place to sleep. No one is sitting across the table saying, “here’s what you do next.” Just a world that had moved on and a system that made it incredibly hard to catch up.

That experience never left him. And instead of letting it break him, Raymond let it build him.

He started Brothers Standing Together because he was tired of watching good people fall through the cracks men and women who wanted to do better, who were trying to do better, but couldn’t find a single door that would open for them. So, we opened one.

We started small. Showing up in the community. Sitting with people. Listening. Figuring out what was actually needed, not what looked good on paper. Over time, that grew into real programs, real jobs, real housing, and real meals on real tables.

We’re not a big fancy organization with marble floors. We’re people who care, built by someone who lived in it. And we believe that makes all the difference.

OUR Mission

To walk alongside justice, impacted individuals not ahead of them, not behind them but right beside them as they rebuild their lives.

OUR Vision

A Chicago, and an Illinois, where the words “I was incarcerated” no longer determine what someone’s future looks like.
